Lucido Hair Treatment Water

This is my current favourite hair treatment water..

20120614-120409.jpg

I usually use it in the morning. It helps to tame down frizzy ends. Best of all, it doesn’t have a strong scent.

Most of the hair products I own have a strong scent. The different scent will clash, so I particularly like this bottle because it blends in well with the rest.

Initially, I bought the small bottle to try and liked it so much, I purchased the larger one. However, now that I’ve cut my hair, all the hopelessly frizzy ends are gone so less occasion to use it.

Maybe it’ll turn out useful after another dye job in a few months time..

L’Oreal Paris Curl Power

20120530-174548.jpg

It has been sitting in my closet for a long time. Not to say that it doesn’t work well, but I’ve one too many hair mousse for curly hair, I seldom use this particular bottle.

Recently I’ve started using it again after reading the back of the can. (It promises watery shine to lifeless curls.) And I’m blown away by how soft & natural it made my hair feel. (^O^)

20120530-175003.jpg

20120530-175123.jpg

I would take a mandarin sized amount of mousse and apply to towel dried hair & blow dry. Then, bun up my hair before bed and wake up to curly hair. o(^▽^)o

P.s. The instructions on the back of the can really wrote mandarin sized.

This is how much I used.

20120530-175600.jpg

Even though most hair mousse states that you can apply to wet or dry hair, I think the trick to using hair mousse for curly hair is to apply to wet hair. If you try to apply to dry hair, the mousse will not spread well and the hair will look ‘stringy’ and feel ‘crispy’.

So if I didn’t apply this the night before, I would spray some treatment water to wet the hair before applying curling mousse and air dry. Treatment water will help to grab on to styling products and make them work better. (Think of it as a primer for the hair.)

Hair will turn out like this. More wavy than curly actually.

Then finish with a hairspray. If you skip this step, your curls won’t last for the entire day.

Pantene Total Damage Care Hair Mask

Truth be told, I bought this hair mask because it was the cheapest one available in Watsons. ($7.90, if I’m not wrong.) That day, I had ran out of hair masks & didn’t want to get the Essensuals hair masks that I usually use. They were not having a sale.

So I bought Pantene hair mask for damaged hair.

20120530-165516.jpg

I’m not sure why, but I have never liked Pantene since forever. It could be due to my mother’s influence or under a friend’s advice, but I’d always thought that Pantene wouldn’t work for my hair.

However, this mask worked really well for me. I liked it do much, I went to the Watsons members’ sale on Wednesday looking to buy it in bulk. Alas, they were all sold out.

I’ve to say, it’s suitable for me because I’ve extremely damaged hair but it might not be for everyone.

Nivea Pure & Natural Action Deodorant 24hrs

Continuing on yesterday’s post about deodorant, I must say that Nivea is really being difficult. When I went shopping for deodorants, driven by the humid hot inhumane weather, all the other brands of deodorant were on sale, all except Nivea. (¬_¬)

Both Rexona and Dove were having buy two for about $10 (can’t remember the exact price. σ^_^; ) and Nivea’s cost $9+ per can. Seriously?!

I was so tempted to buy the other brands but in the end, convinced myself not to. I’d already tried Dove cucumber and there’s still half a can left in my closet. It’s not much help in this weather.

As for Rexona, I bought a white coloured can of deodorant before (again, I can’t remember the exact flavour) and ended up not liking it, so I was hesitant to buy 2 in one go.

20120530-014925.jpg

In the end, I bought one can of Nivea Pure & Natural Action deodorant. Yes, I already have a lot of deodorants at home so I didn’t really need to buy it. Roll ons, stick, spray cans in various flavours and I only have two arms.

At that time, I’d bought the Nivea Silver Protect Polar Blue for about a month and liked it. However, it’s not exactly something I would put on if I were wearing a skirt or dress. I was hoping to find something that could combat the stickiness yet not smell manly.

I’ve to say, I like it. It doesn’t work as well as the Nivea Silver Protect Polar Blue, so I wouldn’t use it on an extremely warm day, but it’s adequate for normal day to day use.

Nivea Silver Protect Polar Blue 48hrs

It has been excruciatingly hot recently. While there were occasional showers, the rain could do little to make a dent on the temperature. And I’ve realised that there is something that I need now, more than ever.

Deodorant

20120530-001818.jpg

Actually, everybody needs deodorants. It should be a necessity. Sadly though, hordes of sweaty smelly people on Bus 302 disagrees with me, along with those on the MRT & other public transport. (T ^ T)

I digress. As I was saying, I needed a more powerful deodorant and set my sights on the Nivea Silver Protect Polar Blue. It’s for men and smells very nice. I’ve always loved this scent, especially on a guy but hey, it doesn’t smell bad on me either. (⌒▽⌒) And most importantly, it helps me to stay less sticky in the baking sun.

I love it so much, I bought two tiny cans so that I can bring one along in my bag.

20120530-000516.jpg

Obviously, it appealed to me mainly because of its functionality, though the scent is important too.

Before I forget, it cost $7.20 per can, much cheaper than other Nivea spray type deodorants for females. Cost $2 for the small can. ^o^

The Body Shop Banana Shampoo & Conditioner

Bought the banana shampoo & conditioner from The Body Shop during a sale last week after watching a raving YouTube review by a beauty guru.

20120524-154927.jpg

20120524-155012.jpg

I couldn’t decide if I should use flash so I included both.

After one wash, my hair felt clean and fluffy so I panicked a little. You know the squeaky clean type of feeling? Yeah, not good for fried hair like mine. But after applying the banana conditioner, my hair just smoothened out and untangled itself. So I ended up with clean refreshed scalp and softer hair.

I wouldn’t say that my hair is very soft now as I’ve severely damaged hair but the shampoo & conditioner definitely helped to improve my hair condition. It also felt good to get rid of all the gunk (hair spray, styling cream & wax) at the end of a long day.

As for the scent, I feel that it’s quite natural & not overpowering. I love bananas so I’m okay with the smell but Eggie hated it so it would be better to try it in a store first before purchasing.

I would definitely repurchase and highly recommend the shampoo for people who style their hair daily and wants to clean out the wax/clay/silicon in their hair.

Estée Lauder Night Recovery Serum

I’ve been wanting a bottle of the Estée Lauder Night Recovery Serum ever since I saw 牛尔 introduce it on 女人我最大 donkey years ago. He mentioned that it helps to reduce scarring, hydrates the skin and minimises the size of pore; perfect for people who have had acne in the past, like me.

20120525-130403.jpg

However, I’ve been putting off getting one because of the hefty price tag. $138 (I think?) for a 50ml bottle. Hence, when Eggie offered to help me purchase from DFS during her Taiwan trip, I jumped at the chance.

The high lasted until I got the bill. $198. Uh huh, that’s right. One hundred and NINETY-eight dollars. How could it be more expensive before taxes?!

Ehem.. Apparently, DFS sells 100ml bottles which you cannot get in the stores. That’s only $60 for the extra 50ml, a steal if you ask me. ヾ(@⌒ー⌒@)ノ So basically I’d a roller coaster of emotions over a bottle of serum. σ(^_^;)

Since late April, I’ve been religiously applying it daily and I’m happy to report that it works!! I’m less prone to breakouts now and my skin feels smoother in the morning. =)

Here’s how I use it:

After washing my face and cleaning with astringent, I use the serum and massage it into my skin before applying a hydrating toner (Hada Labo) then a moisturiser. (Hada Labo, Proactive, Belif or Dr Lauranne, depending on my skin condition for the day)

P.s. While it’s a night serum, I use it during the day too.

This is my 3rd time typing this. THIRD TIME. Every single time I almost complete the post, my fat thumb would accidentally click on Cancel. _| ̄|○
