The Body Shop Honeymania Body Butter

UPDATE: The Honeymania Body Butter and scrub is also included in the S$19.90 sale. Brazil Nut scrub is also on sale, but Cocoa Butter is not.

Just now while shopping for a face moisturiser, I walked passed a The Body Shop store and saw that they are having a S$19.90 sale for selected body butters and body scrubs. If I’m not wrong, they are: Shea, Olive, Moringa and Mango. If you’ve a favourite, now is the time to stock up.

Sadly though, the Cocoa Butter Cream Body Scrub reviewed in my last post and the Honeymania Body Butter that I’m reviewing today are not included in the sale.

My 200ml tub of Honeymania Body Butter.
2015/01/img_2214.jpg

I’ve finished several 50ml tubs bought during warehouse sale, and this tub is about halfway done. Goes to show how much I love it.

The consistency of this body butter is more solid and less oily. I love how it won’t make my skin greasy after applying.

What I love most about it though, is its scent. Normally, honey scents turn me off. They usually smell overly sweet. However, the entire Honeymania collection is a pleasant surprise. It smells like a floral honey, I think most people will like it.

Regular use of this body butter nightly will improve the skin condition of dry and scaly skin. I think consistency is key. Twice a week exfoliation, applying body lotion daily and body butter nightly will definitely make a huge difference.

That’s it for this post. ヾ(@⌒ー⌒@)ノ

P.s. I’ve been busy doing some spring cleaning around the house and so I haven’t been able to update here daily. I’ll try to post as much as I can. ^_^

innisfree Jeju Volcanic Pore Clay Mask

Clay mask review!! It’s the Jeju Volcanic Pore Clay Mask from innisfree.

200ml of clay mask in a tube.
/home/wpcom/public_html/wp-content/blogs.dir/d1e/36110665/files/2015/01/img_2033.jpg

If you have the same one and wonder why mine is in a tube not a tub, it’s because I got mine from a seller in Qoo10. It’s shipped from Korea and this is the bigger (twice in volume) packaging as compared to the tub one. I bought it because I don’t fancy digging my fingers into a tub. It was ages ago, I can’t remember the exact price, but it’s definitely less than S$30, much cheaper per ml than the tub one.

Picture of the smaller packaging (100ml), in case you’re wondering how it looks like.
/home/wpcom/public_html/wp-content/blogs.dir/d1e/36110665/files/2015/01/img_2034.jpg
Picture taken from here.

I’ve not been to any of the innisfree stores in Singapore, so I’m not sure if they sell this mask in the big tube.

I got to know of this mask from a YouTuber. Her YouTube name is iamhakme, and she is a Hong Konger. Sadly though, she has not posted any videos for a long time.

This mask works well to absorb the dirt from deep within the pores and I love it a lot. It does dry out the skin a little afterwards but I just put on toner and an overnight gel mask to hydrate my skin and it’ll be fine.

Instructions at the back. Enlarge to read.
/home/wpcom/public_html/wp-content/blogs.dir/d1e/36110665/files/2015/01/img_2032.jpg

I think they have a stronger version of this mask, I’ve yet to try it. This one is really good in my opinion so I highly recommend it to people with oily, combination and even normal skin because using it once to twice a week can draw out impurities and just makes the skin cleaner.

That’s all for this post. ヾ(@⌒ー⌒@)ノ

Mizon Multi Function Formula All In One Snail Repair Cream

A review of the Mizon Multi Function Formula All In One Snail Repair Cream.

For starters, the name is too long. I’ve noticed that this is something that is fairly common in Taiwanese and Korea facial products and it’s so difficult to remember (not to say tedious to type out too). Very unnecessary, IMO.

I ordered mine from a seller in Qoo10 for about S$20 plus (can’t remember the actual price) and this came in a box.
/home/wpcom/public_html/wp-content/blogs.dir/d1e/36110665/files/2014/12/img_1952.jpg

Can’t find the box now, it’s not important anyway.

As the name suggests, there’s snail slime extracts in the cream that helps to repair the skin. This is a moisturising facial cream that can be used in the morning and at night. I love products like this without SPF because I always apply a sunscreen on my face after using a moisturiser.

I’ve completely used up mine and I will be repurchasing because it’s one of the few moisturisers that suits my skin.
/home/wpcom/public_html/wp-content/blogs.dir/d1e/36110665/files/2014/12/img_1954.jpg

When I first tried it, I felt that the texture is a bit oily, weird considering that I expected a gel texture. But the cream sinks in and my skin becomes more moisturised and I noticed improvements in my skin after a few weeks. It’s softer, and the blemishes heal faster.

I can’t read Korean but here’s the back of the tub for those who can and are interested.
/home/wpcom/public_html/wp-content/blogs.dir/d1e/36110665/files/2014/12/img_1953.jpg

I give this a thumbs up. It beats so many of my other more expensive moisturisers and I’m glad I gave it a try despite the snail slime ewww factor.

Highly recommend this to people with sensitive skin that turns red easily. This is so mild and I like it a lot. In short, go get it if you don’t mind snails. That’s all for today. ヾ(@⌒ー⌒@)ノ

Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse

Here’s a review of Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse. It is a dry oil that can be used on hair, face and body to soften and moisturise.

Here’s a photo of mine, placed on a piece of tissue paper to show the design on the bottle.
/home/wpcom/public_html/wp-content/blogs.dir/d1e/36110665/files/2014/12/img_1873.jpg

This product has been around even before Argan oil was popular. You can say that it’s one of the pioneers. ^_^

As you can see, I’ve already used up a lot of mine (only a fifth of it is left). /home/wpcom/public_html/wp-content/blogs.dir/d1e/36110665/files/2014/12/img_1872.jpg

I always try to use at least half of a product before doing a review because first impression almost always lies. >_<

Anyways, after using most of this bottle, I'm pretty sad that I only kept one of the three bottles that I bought during an opening sale. Gave one to my friend, Harmony, and one to my sister. Sharing is caring but sometimes I just wish I kept everything to myself. Lol. This is awesomeness in a bottle.

It works exceptionally well on towel dried hair. A little goes a long way for this product. I used one pump on the ends of my shoulder length hair (and the rest I rub on my elbows and knees to soften the skin) before blow drying and it just makes my hair so smooth and nice for the the rest of the day.

You can also use it on completely dried hair but I find that most hair oil works better on towel dried hair as it sinks in better and won't just stay on the surface making the hair look oily and lank. It'll also protect the hair from heat damage if you apply before blow drying.

As it can be used on hair, body and face, I had to try everything before writing a review.

Hence, I tried it on my legs and it leaves them with a glow so normally I'll use them when I'm wearing shorts. However, I find that it cannot entirely replace body lotions and butters because it's too light weight. I tested it out by using it only and nothing else for a week, and my skin was a bit drier. Guess I still need my body butters at night.

As for the face, the Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse caused me to break out a little when I used it on my face. I’ve sensitive skin so it’s not for me, but I’ve read glowing reviews on Makeupalley about how this works well on their faces.

It has a distinct scent that not everyone can accept. I like it. Harmony like it but you might not. The scent does not linger so even if you don’t like it, it’s not going to stay around for long anyway. I still feel that it’s best to try it out in the store first before making a purchase.

I just checked the other day, and Watsons and Guardian sell them for S$70 (USD56), up from the S$68 (USD54.40) last year. I bought mine at a sale; 3 bottles for S$84 which makes it only S$28 (USD22.40) per bottle. Practically a steal!!

I love it and will repurchase once I’m done with my bottle. I’m saving it though because I’m trying out other dry oil for my body and hair to see if I can find something as awesome for less money. More bang for my buck. Lol. So far not much luck. If you remember, I wrote a post about the Miracle Solid Oil from The Body Shop here and I gave it a thumbs up. Honestly, this is better because if you use this in the long run, the hair will become silkier. And to me, this smells much better.

That’s all for this post, I’ll be posting about the other oils I’m using in the next few blog entries. Hopefully that’ll be helpful. ヾ(@⌒ー⌒@)ノ

Yankee Candle Scroll Lantern Candle Warmer

A review of my candle warmer from Yankee Candle. It’s their Scroll Lantern in the colour black.

This is what it looks like.
/home/wpcom/public_html/wp-content/blogs.dir/d1e/36110665/files/2014/12/img_1765.jpg

It’s a badly taken photo, but it shows that the warmer has a standard two pin plug which is awesome because I’ve a plug on that can hold up to six two pin plug appliance. They just take up less space.

A candle warmer, as the name suggests, warms up candle either by a hot plate at the base (kinda like a cup warmer), or by a light at the top that emits heat. The heat melts the wax in the candle and so releases fragrance from the oil in the wax and it’s safer than burning the candle in the night time because falling asleep with a candle burning is a potential fire hazard.

This candle warmer cost S$59.90 (USD48) before discount. I bought it after 20% discount at the Yankee store in JEM.

What prompted me to get a warmer in the first place was not one but TWO Bath and Body Works candles with drowning wicks. I was fed up with how they snuffed themselves out and they were tunnelling like crazy. I couldn’t exchange them and so a warmer would do just nicely to still use the candles without having to deal with their weak wicks.

At first, I’ve been looking for a crock plate kind of candle warmer that can be used for warming a candle and also for wax melts/tarts like the ones shown below.

/home/wpcom/public_html/wp-content/blogs.dir/d1e/36110665/files/2014/12/img_1771.jpg

/home/wpcom/public_html/wp-content/blogs.dir/d1e/36110665/files/2014/12/img_1770.png
Both images were taken from Candle Warmers.

But I couldn’t seem to find any in the stores and I didn’t want to pay so much for shipping so I just picked what Yankee Candle Singapore had. It is worth every cent I paid.

Look at how gorgeous it is.
/home/wpcom/public_html/wp-content/blogs.dir/d1e/36110665/files/2014/12/img_1772.jpg

/home/wpcom/public_html/wp-content/blogs.dir/d1e/36110665/files/2014/12/img_1773.png

It works on both Yankee and Bath and Body Works candles.

/home/wpcom/public_html/wp-content/blogs.dir/d1e/36110665/files/2014/12/img_1767.jpg

Just to show that both of them fits.

/home/wpcom/public_html/wp-content/blogs.dir/d1e/36110665/files/2014/12/img_1769.jpg

A candle warmer does not burn the wax so after a few uses, you’ll have to pour away the top part of melted wax so that it can get to the scented oil at the bottom of the candle. It’s a waste of perfectly fine wax so I don’t do that unless it’s a candle with a wick problem.

I’ve found a way to use this candle warmer to prolong the life of exceptionally strong scented candles.

For example, I’ve a very strongly scented Bath and Body Works candle that I simply cannot tolerate. It’s so strong, it’s pungent. So, all I did was to pop it into my candle warmer, use it for a few times to release the fragrance oil and then after it’s no longer as scented as before, I’ll remove it from the warmer and burn it like usual so that the scent won’t be as strong and overpowering. In this way, a candle can last me twice or even thrice as long as usual.

FYI, with the warmer, I no longer have to worry about extinguishing the flame too soon which can lead to tunnelling if the wax pool is not level. If I find it too strong after 5 mins, all I’ve to do is to switch off the warmer and the wax will level out after it cools.

Again, this is a nifty tip I thought of on my own. If you learnt it from someone else first, then good for you but I didn’t lift it from anybody. All I can say is great minds think alike.

Yankee Candle Singapore has 20% off all candle warmers with any candle purchase (even a votive count as a candle). I think this is a great gift for anyone that likes to scent up their house without the soot and flame.

This may seem like an advertisement but it’s not. I just like my warmer a lot. I’ll be happy to share more in the next post tomorrow on another way that I use this candle warmer.

That’s all for now. ヾ(@⌒ー⌒@)ノ

The Body Shop Glazed Apple Body Polish

Today’s entry is a review of the Glazed Apple Body Polish from The Body Shop.

/home/wpcom/public_html/wp-content/blogs.dir/d1e/36110665/files/2014/12/img_1778.jpg

It smells so good, I can’t even understand people who choose the other two scents (cranberry and vanilla) over Glazed Apple. I’ve the shower gel and body butter in this scent but the body polish is the only one I tried. Still haven’t decided if I should keep the body butter and shower gel or to give them away as gifts.

It’s a daily use kind of scrub so the beads inside are not very exfoliating. I love the scent, I love the consistency, I love how it makes my skin softer. I love everything about it. I’ll definitely repurchase before the end of December to use all year round because it’s not just a Christmas scent.

I just wished that The Body Shop had brought back Sparkling Ginger instead of the stupid vanilla and everything would have been perfect this year.

That’s all for this post. I hope I didn’t bore you with my ramblings.
ヾ(@⌒ー⌒@)ノ

P.s. Short post today because my good friend, Yulan, is getting married tomorrow and I’m going to be one of her bridesmaid. It’ll be a tiring but blessed day so I won’t be posting anything up tomorrow.

Kao Megurism Steam Eye Mask

I’ve raved about these masks to all my friends and family and honestly thought that I’d posted a review of it here but it can’t be found anywhere so it must have been a figment of my imagination. =_=

Today’s review is of Kao Megurism Steam Eye Mask. This is what it looks like.
IMG_1720.JPG

The one shown in the photo above is Chamomile scented. I’ve tried all the different scents available online (Rose, Lavender, Chamomile, Eucalyptus, Menthol and unscented). Chamomile is my favourite scent so I only buy Chamomile scented eye masks now.

I’ve five left, four of them are Chamomile scented and one is menthol scented.

IMG_1722.JPG

These masks heat up when removed from their packaging and heat up to about 40 Degrees Celsius and all you have to do is to hook it up on your ears and the mask will relax your eyes to relieve tiredness.

I gave some to Pearlyn but she didn’t like them because she finds them too warm for her eyes. I guess it’s not for everybody, but I love them a lot. They’re especially useful when my eyes are puffy and tired, or when I’m having a migraine. I have migraines a lot and usually Panadol won’t even work so I don’t bother taking them. Just by using one of these babies though, the migraine lessens and disappears.

I usually use this and then place a small pillow on top to intensify the heat and it’ll last longer than the 30 minutes stated.

I don’t like the menthol ones though.
IMG_1723.JPG

They have a menthol cooling effect and that’s just weird when I just want a heating mask.

Lavender, Rose, Chamomile and unscented ones are available in all Watsons and Guardian stores, selling at $6.50 for a pack of 5. I think it’s cheaper than online prices. I bought them on Qoo10 even before they were sold in stores and they usually sell 1 for about $1.50 to $1.70, excluding shipping.

I highly recommend these masks as they worked well for me. They’ll make great gifts for stressed out people as well.

That’s all for this post. ヾ(@⌒ー⌒@)ノ

Yves Rocher Velvety Shower Cream Macadamia Nuts from Guatemala

I just finished using this so before I throw the empty bottle away, I think a review is in order. Today I’m going to review Yves Rocher Velvety Shower Cream Macadamia Nuts from Guatemala. That’s a long name.
(⌒-⌒; )

Photo of the empty bottle.
IMG_1709.JPG

This time, I managed to dig out the old photo I took of it before I started using. Lol. It’s the cream white bottle in the middle.
IMG_1711.PNG

I’ve yet to try the other two and I might just give them away, so there may or may not be a review of them up next month.

Anyways, I paid $7 for this 200ml bottle of shower gel. It’s 50ml smaller than a bottle of shower gel from The Body Shop which typically cost around $12.90.

So after some calculation, it’s $1.66 cheaper (per 100ml) than The Body Shop shower gel. However, that is if I don’t take into consideration sale price and member’s price of The Body Shop, and I never pay full price for a shower gel from The Body Shop.

As usual with Yves Rocher, the consistency of this shower gel is watery. I thought since the label said “Velvety Shower Cream”, it should be a lot creamier but it’s not.

It smells like macadamia nuts and it’s kinda odd as I’m used to fruity scents. I find the scent kind of sweet and don’t really like it but it does leave my skin smooth and clean. My student, Megan, said that I smell like cocoa when I used this. Not sure I want to smell like food but then smelling like a fruit is also kinda insane so.. Ya.. σ(^_^;)

I won’t repurchase because there’s still a lot of shower gels out there to try and this didn’t wow me enough to buy it again. Again, Yves Rocher is having Storewide 20% off now so if you’re considering, now might be the time to buy something to try.

P.s. For those who care, it’s paraben free and the entire packaging is recyclable.

That’s all for this post. Until next time..

The Body Shop Wild Argan Oil (Miracle Solid Oil)

I have been wanting to do a review of this product for a long time but procrastination got the better of me. (; ̄ェ ̄)Better late than never right?

It’s the Miracle Solid Oil from The Body Shop’s Wild Argan Oil series.
IMG_1716.JPG

I got it when it first came out. According to Instagram, I owned it for 19 weeks.
IMG_1719.PNG

At first I only wanted to get The Radiant Oil also shown in the picture above, but the sales assistant recommended this to me. She’s from the Bukit Panjang Branch and I noticed that all the sales assistants there are friendlier and more helpful without being pushy about making a sale. I love shopping there a lot more than the Choa Chu Kang Branch and JEM Branch.

Anyways, thank goodness for her recommendation because I love this more than The Radiant Oil. In fact, I love it so much that I gave one (among other things), to Pearlyn for her birthday.

To use it, all you have to do is to rub clean fingers over the surface and then use it to smoothen hair ends. A little goes a long way with this product.
IMG_1718.JPG

It can be used on damp or dry hair. I find that either ways will give my hair a healthier shine. It’s a body and hair product so I use it for my elbows, heels and knee caps too. I love how soft it makes skin feels. This is awesomeness in a tin.

What I don’t like about it is the scent. I’ve no idea what Argan oil smells like but I don’t like the scent of this product. It smells weird to me but that’s something I’m willing to overlook, especially when it’s not overpowering.

This 50g of goodness retails for $19.90 before discount. I highly recommend everyone to try it out. The Body Shop has storewide 30% now, if I’m not wrong. I got mine for 25% off at around $15 (USD 12). It’s already a pretty good deal but it’s even cheaper now. This is something that I will repurchase and I highly recommend as a gift to anyone with dry elbows and heels, or to those who simply wants shinier hair.

That’s it for this post. Until next time… ヾ(@⌒ー⌒@)ノ

Yves Rocher Blackberries Exfoliating Shower Gel

I’m taking a break from candles because of the sore throat, cough and flu. Today I’m going to review the Yves Rocher Blackberries Exfoliating Shower Gel.

Again, I cannot find the photo I’ve taken of it before I started using so here’s a photo of my almost done tube of shower gel.
IMG_1702.JPG

It’s a Christmas special product and it’s different from their usual Blackberry shower gel which I also own in a 50ml bottle.

Just to show you the difference, this is their Blackberry shower gel from their usual line.
IMG_1707.JPG

They smell different. The Yves Rocher Blackberries Exfoliating Shower Gel smells sweet with a tinge of musk and it smells like really nice blackberry liqueur. I love the scent a lot so I also bought their hand cream from the same line.

However, the kiwi seeds in the shower gel is not exfoliating enough. I know it’s meant to be for daily use, but it’s even less exfoliating than my Satsuma body polish from The Body Shop. I think I shouldn’t have bothered with this one and should’ve just bought the non-exfoliating shower gel.

Also, all Yves Rocher shower gels are too watery for my liking. It’s just a matter of personal preference, because the only thing that make the difference is the amount of corn starch they put in the shower gel to congeal it. I prefer thicker consistency as I tend to be a little heavy-handed and will end up with too much product when I use this.

As you can see, I only have about a sixth of the tube left.
IMG_1703.JPG

It’s a shame that it’s gone so quickly, even though I don’t use it daily. I really like the scent and how it lingers on for at least half an hour after shower.

I use it (and all my shower gels actually) with a bath lily so that it’ll foam and clean better. I’m not repurchasing this but might just get the lotion and normal shower gel because of the scent.

If you’re someone who don’t like harsh exfoliation, this is for you. I think it’ll be a great gift to receive for Christmas. Everything in Yves Rocher is going for 20% off till the end of December. It is a 200ml bottle and I think I got mine for less than $10 after discount.

Just to clarify, I don’t do advertorial posts in my blog. No sponsored posts or anything like that. If I get anything for free, I’ll always state so. All opinions and photos in this post are entirely mine.
