Maybelline The Falsies Volum’ Express Waterproof Mascara

So, right after I tried out The Rocket mascara and realised that it didn’t work well for me, I decided to play safe and go back to an old favourite of mine: The Falsies from Maybelline.

My very first tube of The Falsies was bought in Taiwan and I’ve long since finished two tubes. This is my third. ^_^

The mascara wand has a curved, fanned-out brush that helps to keep the lashes curled.

The mascara formula has fibres in it to lengthen and thicken the lashes. It can be build up to exaggerating volume and length that gives credit to its name. I’ve gotten compliments and people asking me where I bought my falsies. It’s not falsies, it’s The Falsies. ^_^

A fibre based mascara also means that it washes off easily with water and comes out in tubes. I highly recommend this to people who wears light makeup as you won’t need an eye makeup remover to remove it.

However, because it has fibre, when the tube of mascara is slightly dried up, the fibres will flake off so I’d say it’s not a mascara that’ll last you ages. Anyways, mascara shouldn’t be kept for more than three months (but I try to keep them for as long as they can last =p). Also, do note that it smudges slightly at the end of the day.

This is my second favourite mascara from Maybelline. My absolute favourite is Lashionista as it has a tip that is a tiny bit smaller than The Falsies.

But the Lashionista mascara is longer so it can be a bit tricky to use for makeup beginners or people with shakey hands.

Anyways, I like The Falsies a lot and it is approximately S$2 more expensive than the other Maybelline mascaras but it’s definitely worth it.

That’s all for this post. ^_^

Maybelline The Rocket Volum’ Express Mascara

I’ve been trying out new makeup but work has been hectic lately and I haven’t had much time to write a proper review.

Now that I’ve woken up early, I found time to write two reviews. Both the posts today and tomorrow will be on mascaras.

The Rocket from Maybelline

It’s an okay mascara as it creates volume on the lashes and I’ve gotten compliments after using it.

However, it’s not clump free and you will get spidery lashes if you apply several coats. It does not lengthen your lashes. If you’ve oily skin like me, then it’s not completely smudge-proof.

And the mascara wand which they claimed to be revolutionary, is in fact, very annoying.

If you zoom in on the photo above, you’ll see that the mascara wand is spikey and fat. It irritates my water line and is not precise enough for lower lashes.

I wish I’d googled it first before buying. >_< Anyways, I gave up on it after three uses and bought another mascara which will be in the review tomorrow.

This is not a mascara for people with sensitive eyes and/or oily skin. People who likes to gradually build up their mascara will also dislike it.

In a nutshell, I don't like it but I can see why it appeals to others.

My Fair Lady

I watched the dressed rehearsal of My Fair Lady musical at the MasterCard Theatres in Marina Bay Sands yesterday and it is fantastic.

20140211-105525.jpg

My Fair Lady is a love story but it is not just a love story. It has humour, good music and great choreography. Best of all, it ends happily ever after, better than the morose endings of most famous but tragic love stories.

I’ve not watched the play before yesterday, but I’ve watched the movie made in 1964 starring Audrey Hepburn and it is one of my favourite movies. If you haven’t watched that, imagine a better, non-prostitute version of Pretty Woman.

The musical is not a word-for-word version of the movie, some scenes are rearranged and, I daresay, I prefer the musical’s pace over the movie’s. I even prefer the musical’s interpretation of the characters. I just went back to watch the movie again (that’s 5 minutes ago) and realised that the characters in the movie seemed a little less expressive than they should. Eliza Doolittle and Henry Higgins are so much funnier in the musical even when they’re saying the same things.

However, one regrettable part was that the musical does not have the scene at the Embassy Ball, which I think, would be essential to show Eliza’s successful transformation. After all, showing that you’ve won is more satisfying than saying you’ve won.

All in all, a fantastic musical that’s for anyone who knows how to speak English. I do recommend reading the lyrics first though, to get an idea of what they are saying as their accent is so strong.

Here’s the lyrics to With A Little Bit ‘O’ Luck, one of my favourite song in the play.

I lifted them off Metro Lyrics and you can find all the lyrics to
My Fair Lady there. I especially like Why Can’t the English? and Just You Wait.

As usual, before I end this post, here’s the link to book the tickets.

It starts tonight till the 2nd of March.

I highly recommend My Fair Lady and I’m glad that I picked the first row because their facial expressions was so animated and it’ll be worth the extra money to sit closer to experience the play.

And if you’re a kaypo like me, you can follow Brianmdrummy on Instagram . He is a member of the cast and Instagram rather interesting pictures of the play and of Singapore.

And again, nobody paid me anything to write this to the very little number of people who visits this blog. It is written of my own accord and yes, my friend Chibi San invited me to watch this as well.
